PRAYER OF THE WEEK
Offer your lives as a living sacrifice to God.
Do not change yourselves to be like the people of this world,
But be changed within by a new way of thinking.
Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you;
you will know what is good and pleasing to Him
and what is perfect.
Romans 12:1-2

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What an amazing term we have had this year. So many wonderful events have taken place and it truly has been jam packed. We have not had a single week without exciting events occurring. We saw our very successful Book Week take place and this truly was a highlight in our student’s lives. We also were blessed to see our Year ^ix students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and this truly was a blessing. We celebrated our Fathers and saw a great P & F raffle as well as celebrating our Founders Day as a school. We are now preparing for our school holidays and pray that all our staff and families enjoy this time and relax over the holidays ready to return for another jam packed term of exciting events.
YEAR THREE ASSEMBLY
What a fantastic assembly we saw last Friday, our Year Three students absolutely dazzled us on the stage. The choral item was superb and our Year Three students were so calm and confident. The costumes were sensational and the item was so well thought out and composed. Congratulations to your teachers and yourselves, the Year Three students were rock solid and their item was outstanding. I believe our talented students also enjoyed the day in the hall with our parent helpers to make Roald Dahl come to life, what an amazing celebration and what valuable learning took place over the day. Congratulations to Mrs Mason and Mrs McDonnell for inspiring our students and for our wonderful parent help to ensure this learning could be facilitated. Team effort everyone.
NAPLAN RESULTS
On Monday the NAPLAN results arrived into the school. They have been sent home for you to view. At the AGM on 21st November this year, the results will be discussed. Congratulations to our students for the wonderful work they completed on the assessments.

PRE PRIMARY/KINDERGARTEN CARNVIAL
What a magical day Wednesday turned out to be for our budding athletes. It was great to see so many parents and siblings come out to support our students. As always the event was sensational and very well run so congratulations to Mr Sam Harris, the Kindy and Pre Primary Staff and his helpers. The children took to the field and seemed to really enjoy the events they participated in. Our students though young really joined in well and made the most of the day. We really have some sporting prowess in the younger years. Well done everyone.
FUN RUN
Please remember our P & F fundraiser is taking place on Wednesday 10th October. The colour run is a real favourite with our students and staff. The obstacle course will run again and our children have the opportunity to wear colour from head to toe while manoeuvring around the course. Our P & F are amazing women who constantly come up with great community building ideas. Remember to fill in your sponsor sheets and be ready for week one next term.
STRESS
An increasing number of school children are being diagnosed as stressed. Stress is a natural human experience which helps us to perform better when we are feeling nervous, threatened or in danger. Sometimes we feel under pressure to perform; children experience this too. Some of the causes of stress in children may be: difficulty with school work or friendships, family arguments or violence, moving house, illness or death of a close friend or relative, family split-ups, bullying or any form of abuse, feelings of insecurity and unworthiness.
Stress is nature’s way of telling you to slow down and relax, to seek help or to talk to somebody about your feelings. It feels like you have a huge weight on your shoulders or a permanent knot or pain in your stomach. It can also manifest itself through headaches, nausea, sadness, fear of the future or of failure, confusion, anger, tiredness and lethargy or feeling overloaded. Sometimes it may not be one single event or cause, but a combination of events or situations, which cause the feelings of stress.
Ensure that your child has adequate sleep, eats lots of fruit and vegetables and drinks plenty of water. Encourage them to take deep breaths when feeling stressed and to get out and be active; exercise is a proven method of helping to reduce stress. Talking with your child about their feelings will help them to realise that they are not alone in their situation. During the holidays take the time to talk with your child and check how they are travelling.
We hope and pray that you all have a wonderful and relaxed holiday and return safely to school on Tuesday 9th October.
God Bless,
-

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS
PHYSICAL EDUCATION TERM 3
Term Three has been extremely busy, particularly the last few weeks, as we have had a number of important events on the sporting calendar for 2018.
On Friday of Week 8, we had a visit from Perth Glory Football Club, who were generous enough to send out a number of development officers and resources for our Year 6 students to benefit from during their sports lessons. The clinic was a tremendous opportunity for students to learn and demonstrate basic and more advanced skills, but most importantly, have fun and try something which may be new to them. I was very proud of our students and must applaud the way they represented our school and thanked the coaches after the clinic. Well done Year 6!
Last Thursday, we had our Faction Field Events Carnival which was threatened with some early morning rain however, turned out to be a magnificent day. All students from Years 1 to 6 competed in the 200m event, as well as selected students who competed in the various field events that were associated with their year group. Our students displayed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day and all of the points that were awarded on the day will go towards each factions overall points tally to be announced on our Faction Carnival Day. These events will also see points awarded to individual students who are competing for a number of individual honours. I would like to thank all of our wonderful staff for their assistance in the preparation of the students for the day. A big thank you must also go to our wonderful parents who measured, recorded and encouraged our students at each of the different field events. Without their assistance there would be no great days such as these, and I am very appreciative of your support.
On Wednesday we also had our Pre Primary & Kindy Sports Carnival which took place on the Central Green. This was a joyous occasion for parents and students alike, and the school is very excited to see some of the tremendous talent we have in our younger year groups. Most importantly, every student competed with a smile on their face and participated to the best of their ability. Another big thank you to the staff in our Kindy and Pre Primary classrooms for their support in the lead up to the big day, as well as their terrific organisation of both students and events on the day. A great team effort!
Below are some important dates to set aside on your sporting calendar in Term 4:
1. Faction Sports Carnival – 18th October (Week 2)
2. CPSSA Athletics Carnival – 25th October (Week 3)
3. Year 5 Summer Lightning Carnival – 16th November (Week 6)
4. Running Club – Weeks 1, 4 & 5 only
I wish everyone in our school community a happy and safe school holidays and look forward to seeing a number of you around the school and at the events we have coming up in Term Four.

SCHOOL BANKING

Our school banking day is Wednesday morning from 8am until 8.50am. Come along and see us if you would like to join up and start saving!
WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF A BANKING VOLUNTEER!
We urgently require one or two people to become banking co-ordinators for our school. What’s involved you ask?
We need someone to be available for about 1 hour on a Wednesday morning between 8am and 9am to take the banking money and slips from the children. After the children bank we enter the deposits in via the banking portal, and balance the money. This is all done on the school grounds. After we balance the school banking money, we drop the money bag off at Commonwealth Bank.
School banking benefits the school and our children and if we don’t get a volunteer or two we may not be able to continue school banking next year.
If you would like to know more, please come and see either Nicole or Kelly on a Wednesday morning or feel free to give Kelly a call on 0447 051 641.
